What I bring to the table…
I am a certified birth doula, postpartum doula, lactation counselor, and postpartum chef. Cooking is my passion, my meditation and my poetry. It is how I express love. In cooking, birth work, and life in general, I am resourceful, creative, and can adapt to change on the fly.
I am a queer woman and I believe in reproductive autonomy for all people.
I have aspirations of growing a garden and writing a novel. Any tips you have on these two things or if you would like to work with me, head over to my contact page.

how it began
It was a brisk, Autumn evening in Brooklyn when I stepped into the maternity store where I had briefly worked after college. While searching for a baby shower gift, I caught up with one of the women working there. After a while, I admitted to being in the midst of a deep soul search. I knew I was going down the wrong career path but didn’t know how to find the right one. The woman was sympathetic and brought up doula work as something I might be interested in.
Having worked at the store, I knew what a doula was on a surface level, but after I probed for more details, I felt an odd sense of euphoria. That spark of inspiration I’d been missing in my life lit up inside me. When my partner and I left the store, she turned to me and said, “Jodi, when that woman said doula, your face lit up.” It was undeniable. A few weeks later, I signed up for a training and by the end of the year, I quit my job.
Since then, I have been absolutely elated with this line of work. I am so grateful to not only bare witness to such extraordinary feats, but to encourage and facilitate a piece of this magic. It is a livelihood that puts my compassion and resourcefulness into a daily practice.
